そう、パチンコは賭博じゃないんですよね（目配せ目配せ）。あの小さな玉をいくら集めたところでカネにはならんのですよね。代わりにいろんな物品を頂戴することになるんですよね。当方の記憶に最も鮮やかなのはライター用フリントの詰め合わせですな。いやはやまるで使い道なし！！いやいや、店舗の外に小さな小屋がございましてね。その中にですね、偶然にもそのライター用フリントを買い取ってくださる人がいらっしゃるわけなんですよね（目配せ目配せ）。それでも賭博とは別物なんですよね。賭博は違法なんですよね。 〔You see, Pachinko isn't gambling. 日本でいわゆる「ギャンブル」と呼ばれるものはパチンコ店と競馬。これらが最も有名なのではないでしょうか。競馬のほうは馬に興味をお持ちでないなら大して楽しいものではないですね。 〔What we call "gambling" are Pachinko parlors and derby. I think those 2 are the most famous ones in Japan. Unless you are into horses, derby isn't really a fun thing to do.〕
普通のパチンコに加えパチンコ玉の代わりにメダルを用いるスロットが置いてあるのがパチンコ店。勝てばアガリを現金と交換できたり、タバコと交換できたり、ぬいぐるみ、時計、バッグ、スナック菓子、などなどなどと交換できたりします。（パチンコ店に勤務していたことがあるんですけど、すごいですよもう。それこそいろんな物との交換が可能になってます。ブランド品とかそういうものまで。） 〔Pachinko parlors have the regular pachinkos and slots that you play with medals instead of balls. パチンコ店なら東京圏ほか日本全土で見つけることができます。ただパチンコ店というのは賞品として現金を直に受け取る行為は適法でないのです（抜け道はありますが）。カジノ様式のゲームを備えた新手のゲームセンターというのもあるにはあります。が、同じく賞品は現金ではありません。 〔You can find many Pachinko parlors around Tokyo and Japan. まあ、それらしきものなら。パチンコ店がいたるところに存在しています。若干テクニックが要求される点を除けばスロットマシンと非常に似ています。獲得した鉄製の玉を店舗のフロントで景品と交換。それを買い取ってくれるコーナーに行って現金にするわけです。玉自体を買い取ってくれる例もあるかもしれません。それでも表向きには賭博ではなく賞状券を貰って終わりのスキーボールと変わらないものとされているわけですが、換金は容易に可能です。このような形の景品換金所を備え持たないパチンコ店があるとは到底思えません。 〔Well, kind of. There are these Pachinko parlors everywhere, which are a lot like slot machines except they require a little bit of skill. You win these metal balls that can then be traded in for prizes at the front desk of the parlor. Then, you go around the corner, and sell the prize for money. I think you might be able to sell the balls for money too. Anyway, although it's not technically gambling any more than getting tickets at a ski-ball machine is, you can easily get cash for the prize. 公認カジノは日本には存在しません。そこに関しては既出の回答内容にある通りだと思います。ただですね、最近のことなのですが、贔屓にしている大阪のビリヤード場が2店ばかり小さなカジノに鞍替えしています。アメリカのカジノと比べれば非常に小規模なものですが、ルーレットを使う形で賭けて儲けることができたり。現ナマを賭けているわけですが、それでも表向きにはビリヤード場ということになっております。 〔There are not official casinos in Japan. On that point, I confirm what was written before my answer. However, recently, two of my favourite billiard places in Osaka turned into small casinos. It is very small compared to the American ones but having a roulette is a way to make more money with that surface. People play money even if, for the authorities, it is still a billiard hall.〕
