ええ、もうずいぶん前になりますけど・・・ そういえば私にハリーポッターを紹介してくれたのは中国系フィリピン人の友人でした。英語版ハードカバーの収集にそれはもう夢中になっておられましたよ。 〔Yes, Way back years ago.. a Chinese-Filipino friend of mine is the who introduced me to Harry Potter. She's so hooked collecting the hardbound Harry Potter books (English version).〕
タガログ語訳の必要性については特には感じませんね。そもそもフィリピンは第二公用語がアメリカ英語なんですし。＜＊ー＊＞ 〔I don't think it's necessary to translate it into Tagalog since Filipinos' second language is American English. <*-*>〕

あるわなぁ・・・タガログ語ってのはどうかね。不可欠ではないなとりあえず。フィリピン人のほとんどは英語読めるし理解できるんで・・・ 〔Yes... I don't know if they would translate it to Tagalog... they don't have to, most Filipinos can read and understand English...〕

すごい人気ですよ。私も読者のひとり（1〜7巻読了）。なんでかっていえば、そこは西洋人さんたちとなにもちがってなくて、単に面白いから惹かれるっていうね。タガログ語訳については、それは必要なしだと思いますけど。フィリピン人ってほぼみんな英語わかるし、そもそもわかりやすい文章で書かれてるしね。いらないっしょ。 〔Yes it is very popular. I, for one, have read the books (1-7) because like Westerners I find it very interesting. I guess there's no need for the books to be translated to Tagalog because almost all Filipinos are English literates and the texts are pretty understandable so there's no need for them to be translated.〕
