プライドがK-1との協賛で91,000席を完売（なんてこった！）したうえ、観客動員67,000なんちゅう総格専門イベントがほかにもあったりする。ドリーム年末放送のテレビ視聴率なんと13.1！安易な言い方かもしれんの覚悟で言うが、ここまで売れてるってことは相当に人気高いはず。とにかく日本に行ったことある人に聞きたい。ガチで人気高いのか？子供たちもヒョードルとかをヒーロー扱いしてたり総格選手になるのが夢だったりとかあるのか？こっちにそういう子供らいるのと同じでさ。そんで人気で総格がボクシングを凌駕するのが可能だってことを日本は証明してくれてるだろうか？回答頂ければありがたく思う。 〔Pride co promoted with K-1 and sold 91,000 seats(omg!) and had another mma only event that had around 67,000 people. The dream end of the year show had a t.v rating of 13.1! I don't want to sound stupid because it must be pretty popular to sell like that, but If anyone has ever been to japan is it really popular? Do kids have heroes like Fedor and dream of becoming mma fighters like some kids here do? And is japan proof that mma can surpass boxing in popularity? Answers are greatly appreciated.〕

団体に関しちゃ知ってるぜ。ただ規模はどれくらいなのかっていう。子供らが学校で話題にしたりするのか？格闘家が憧れの存在だったりするのか？日本に居たことある方からの回答を多く貰いたいところだ。 〔I know the organizations and stuff but how big is it in japan? Do kids talk about it in school? Do they look up to the fighters? I want as many people who have been to japan to answer.〕

大規模だけども規制も厳しかったりする。日本の生んだ偉大な格闘家は多いわけだが、総合格闘技への目線に違いがあったりするんだな。あの国では伝統格闘技vs総合格闘技の根強い対立があるわけなんだよ。伝統格闘技陣営は観戦を楽しみはするが同時に無視を決め込んでおる。米国と違って総格専門学校がそこら中にあったりはしない。日本人は師匠からの知恵と知識を尊重するし、ちょろっと試合に勝利しただけの22歳以下そこらの格闘家に師事したりなんぞせんのだ。 〔It is a big business over there but highly regulated. Some great fighters have come from Japan but there is a difference in how they view it. They have the big traditional vs MMA thing going on over there as well but the TMA people just ignore it since they enjoy watching it. There aren't MMA schools popping up over there like there are in the US because the Japanese people respect wisdom and knowledge from the instructor and they won't train under some 22 year fighter who won a few matches.〕
総格がボクシングを超えられるかどうか。それについては前例不足につきわかりかねる。賞金額で上回らない限り無理だろうなとは思うが。より高い稼ぎを求めてボクシングに転身する総合格闘家も結構いるとかなんとか・・・でも総合格闘家に転身するボクサーは少ない。カネ目当てでボクシングをやり続けている。ボクシング人気が以前のレベルまで低下するのを見るのも乙だな。でもその原因が総格ってのはあり得るだろうかね。規制がどんどん厳しくなってく一方だからな。 〔I am not sure if MMA can surpass boxing because it has not been tested long enough yet. If they do not get higher prize money then it will never happen. Many MMA fighters are seen switching to boxing now so they can make more money...but there are a few boxers who have switched to MMA, yet they still box when they need the bucks. It will be interesting to see if boxing declines anymore as it has in the past year, but MMA may not make it for too much longer because every year they are imposing more and more regulations on it which devalues it.〕

その通りだ巨大だぜ日本では。プライドファイティングチャンピオンシップスっていう独自の団体があってな。ヒョードル、ランペイジ、ヴァンダレイ、ダン・ヘンダーソン、ショーグン・フア、ノゲイラ、クロコップがいたところだ。でも潰れちまったんだよな。その後ドリームの旗揚げがあった。これは現役でペイパービューもある。総格はマジにデカいぜ日本じゃ。 〔yes it is huge in Japan, they had their own organization called pride fighting championships, where Fedor, Rampage, Wanderlei, Dan Henderson, Shogun Rua, and Nogeira , and Cro-Cop came from, but it went out of business, after that they formed Dream which is currently active and has pay per views, MMA is very big in Japan.〕
