親戚の人がスマホ購入。インターネット接続あるし何らかのウイルス対策が必要かどうか気になるんですって。どうなんですかね。 〔my cousin just got a smartphone and I asked her if she needed some kind of antivirus since it had internet on it and she didn't know so I would like to find out〕

手持ちのスマホはサムスンのギャラクシーS2です。プレイストアでアンチウイルス探してみたんですけど、AVG、ルックアウトセキュリティ＆アンチウイルス、アバスト、あたりが実に良さげだと思いました。どれか端末に入れとくべきですか？選択肢としてどれが最適でしょうか？ 〔I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and I was looking at the Play Store antivirus apps I really like AVG, Lookout Security & Antivirus, and avast. スマホにウイルス対策は必要か？否。 〔Does it need an anti-virus? No.〕
だがマルウェア対策は必要となる。スマホはウイルスに対しては非常に強い（知らぬ間に対処してくれる）のですが、トロイ（知らぬ間にインストールしてしまう悪質プログラム）に対しての防御能力は持たないのです。ただそれも親戚さんが高いダウンロードリテラシーをお持ちであれば問題なしでしょう。 〔However, it can still get malware. They tend to be pretty good against viruses (which sneak on without you knowing), but there is no protection against Trojans (malicious programs that you willingly install). As long as your cousin is careful about what she downloads, she'll be fine.〕

アンドロイド向けウイルス対策アプリは存在しておりますが、アップルはともかくアンドロイドに関しては注意を促したい。アンドロイドはアプリ公開にあたり検査を通しません。アップルでしたら検査であらかじめ端末に害が皆無であることを確認したうえでファイルやアプリを公開します。ご参考までに。 〔I would suggest one more so with an android then and apple because android does not sort through the apps before making them public. There are antivirus apps on andriod market and apple that will sort through files and apps to make sure there nothing hurting your phone. Hope this helps〕

携帯端末は大抵ウイルス対策は特に不要ですが、結構色んなウイルス対策ソフトが出てたりもしますので、用心に用心を重ねておきたいとのことならお試しになってみては。携帯端末関連機器がウイルス感染という事例は当方は聞いたこともありませんけどね。 〔Most phones do not need an antivirus but various antivirus software apps can be downloaded if you want to take extra caution. I personally have never have or seen any instance of a phone getting a virus.〕

うちのやつだとAVGはスペックが合いませんでした。アバストは不明。現状アンドロイドのスマホにコモドモバイルセキュリティーを入れてますけど実に有能です。 〔AVG didn't satisfy my requirements, i don't know about avast, now i am using Comodo mobile security for my android smartphone it is really good.〕

Androidを狙ったウイルスが存在するのは確実です。アプリケーションを得体の知れない場所から入手したりなどなさらない限り危険はほとんどありませんがね。当方も無難なアンチウイルスを入れております。 〔There definitely are viruses for Android. As long as you don't install applications from unknown sources, you're safe from the vast majority of threats. I still use an AV as it doesn't hurt.〕
