問：ダウンロードはもう終わったところ。100パーセント。ちなみにユートレントを使ったのはこれが初めて。そんでシード数が0(14)とピア数が14(39)ってなってんだけどどういう意味なのこれ。ほんのさっきまではシード数が9(14)ってなってた。 〔Q:The downloading was finished already, 100 percent. ユートレントではシードをどこで停止するかを共有比でもって設定できるよ。オプション→設定→キューね。 〔In uTorrent you can set the share ratio at which the torrent will stop seeding at Options>Preferences>Queueing.〕
この共有比ってのは100%にしといたほうがいいよ。それはつまり自分が落としたぶんだけ他人に提供したってことであって、そのトレントの生存と可用性とに貢献したことになるわけだ。 〔It is a good idea to share at least to a 100% ratio as this means you have given back what you got and helps to keep torrents alive and healthy.〕

あなたのダウンロードが完了した後に、そのトレントをダウンロードしている人が他にまだ存在した場合、あなたが中止とするまで自動的にシードし続けるのです。 〔After your download is completed, and there are still others trying to download the torrent, you will continue to seed automatically unless you stop it.〕
共有こそがビットトレントの基本理念に他なりません。ダウンロードした量と同じだけのアップロードをしておくべきです。そしてできることならそれより多量のアップロードをね。 〔The main rule with bittorrents is sharing. You should upload the same amount you downloaded, or more if you can.〕
ユートレントには各トレントの共有比が表示されます。1.0に達したならばとりあえずは止めておいてもよいでしょう。 〔uTorrent displays the Ratio for each torrent. Once it reaches 1.0 you can stop it from seeding.〕

シード数はダウンロード元の数のこと。ピア数はアップロード先の数のこと。ダウンロードが終了して100%になったら、そのファイルを欲しがってる人に対して、ユートレントはそのファイルのシードを開始するわけなんだよ。それは後で始めさせることもできる。そのファイルをダウンロードすることができたのは、それを以前にダウンロードした誰かが、それをシード（共有）してくれたからなんだよ。つまりそれらに対する感謝の証としてのシードを好きなだけやってよし。シードを止めるには上部のツールバーの停止ボタンを押せばいいだけだ。それっきりシードをしたくないなら、そのトレントファイルを一覧から削除すればいい。アップロードの帯域幅を制限することもできる。そうすればユートレントのせいでインターネット接続が遅くなるなんてこともない。共有は思いやりだってことを忘れないように！そんじゃあ良い一日を。 〔Seeds Are the people you are downloading from. Peers are the people that are downloading from you. When the download finishes and reaches 100% Utorrent starts Seeding the file to other people that want to download the file. You can let the Utorrent Seed the file even after the download has completed because the reason you managed to download that file is because someone else had downloaded it before and was seeding (sharing) it with you. To stop Seeding just click the STOP button at the top toolbar, or if you do not ever want to seed than delete the Torrent file from the list.
