シード数―36（62） と ピア数―8（37） で ダウンロード速度が15キロビット毎秒。 〔seeds- 36(62) and peers- 8(37) and downloading speed 15 kbps.〕
やがてピア数が5（37）に変わり、シード数は36（62）のままなのに、ダウンロード速度は6～7キロビット毎秒へと低落。ここで質問です。ピア数ってのはダウンロード速度に関係してくるのでしょうか？聞くにはダウンロードにえらい役立つそうだけど。この前ビットトレント使ったときなんて5キロビット毎秒までしか出なかった。トレント初心者です。どうか指南をよろしくお願い致します。 〔then,peers change to 5(37) and seed remain 36(62) and downloading speed goes down to 6-7 kbps.so my question is that peers is responsible for higher downloading speed? .i heard its nice to download stuff & really works.i used bit torrent once but speed was less below 5 kbps.i'm new to use torrent.so plz guide me.〕

トレントの速度は複数の要素に左右されるものです。ただこの質問について言うなら、それはシード数ですね。トレントを落とすにあたってはシード数の多いものを見つけるようにしましょう。トレントのダウンロードサイトはシード数を表示してくれているところがほとんどですよ。 〔Torrent speeds depend on several things, but for this question, it's the seeds that count. Try to get a very high seeder number when you download torrents. Most torrent download sites have the number of seeders for the selected torrent.〕
5キロビット毎秒か。信じ難いほどの遅さですね。こちらは250～300キロビット毎秒ぐらいは大体いつも出てます。とりあえず速度向上のためにこれらをお試しあれ↓ 〔Also, 5 kb/s is incredibly slow. I usually get around 250-300kb/s for torrent downloading. Therefore, try these tips to improve speed:〕
・モデムのポートを開放。まずhttp://www.portforward.comに行ってルーターを選択。そして使用中のビットトレントクライアントに応じたポート開放の手順を参照。 〔- Open up a port in your modem. Go to http://www.portforward.com, select your router, and get instructions from there to open up ports for your BitTorrent client.〕

シーダーは必要不可欠。ただ同時に、リーチャーに対しての義務というものもございますゆえ。そこで、リーチ数に対するシード数の 比 に着目（たとえばシード数が1000でリーチ数が20ならば、その比は5.1となるはず。これはかなり良好な事例です）。 〔You need seeders, but at the same time, there are bound to be some leechers there. Therefore, look for a higher RATIO of seeders to leechers (e.g 1000 seeders 20 leechers would be a ratio of 5:1 which is GOOD for torrenting).〕

トレント利用者（シードもピアも）はそれぞれ異なる回線を用いていることがあり得る（T1、DSL、ケーブルあるいはダイヤルアップ）。さらには利用者はファイルの共有にあたり、場合に応じて速度を設定することが可能。つまりは速度をあらかじめ見積もる方法なんぞ存在しない。ダイヤルアップのシーダー10人より、DSLのシーダー1人のほうがよっぽど良かったりする。ピア／シーダー＋自身の回線の速度から弾き出されるのが予想速度。 〔Torrent clients -- seeds and peers alike -- may have varying network types (T1, DSL, cable or dial-up). また、ダウンロードを100%完遂させるためには、シーダーが少なくとも1名はいなければならない。シーダーが1名もいなかった場合、ピアの所有する部位の全てを落とし切った時点でそのダウンロードは中止となってしまう。その場合には、足りない部位を所有するシーダーかピアがネットワークに現われない限り、そのダウンロードが再開されることはない。 〔Also, for your download to finish 100%, you must have atleast 1 seeder around.
