まずは訛り。フランス系カナダ人さんからすればフランス人の喋りは重度の訛りを伴って聞こえることでしょう。逆も然りです。 〔The accent at first. The French Canadians might say that the French from France have a strong accent, so do the French about French Canadian.〕
フランスを出たのが18世紀頃であったフランス系カナダ人さん多数。その時代の訛りが変わらずそのまま残っているとも言われています。本国フランスのそれは変化を経ているわけなんですがね。まあこれはあくまで一説ですよ。実際のところは不明です。 〔Many French Canadian have left France in the XVIIIth century or so, and some say that their accent has not changed since. While it did change in France. But that is theory, who really knows?〕
また語彙の違いも存在します。例えば形容詞（“niaiseux”、“teteux”はカナダ限定）。スラングになるともう大量。“Tabernacle”（卑語）をはじめフランスでは聞くことのできぬ単語も多数。逆にカナダであまり聞かれぬ例といえば“verlan”（逆さ語）がそうですね。 〔In addition, some words are different. Adjectives for instance ("niaiseux", "teteux" used only in Canada). And the slang differs a lot. "Tabernacle" (swearword) among many others will never be heard in France. While "verlan" (inverting sounds within a word) is not common in Canada.〕
英単語は極力使いませんのよ、的なフランス系カナダ人さんもいらっしゃるわけなのですが、まったくもって虚しいことです。少々の違いを持たせているだけなのが現実。 〔Some French Canadians pretend to use less English words but this is definitely false, they just don't use the same (but it might amount to the same percentage).〕
仮に違いがあったとしてもです。ケベック人とフランス人は会話での意思の疎通が可能。これは間違いない。多少の困難はあり得るでしょうけど、意思の疎通それ自体は難しいものではないはずです。 〔At last, even if different, a Quebecois will understand an French, and a French will understand a Quebecois. With some difficulties maybe, but the communication is not that hard.〕
