は、なにより検索エンジンとして名高い「ヤフー」の送るサービスのひとつ『ヤフー！知恵袋』の本家版すなわち『ヤフー！アンサーズ』(Yahoo! Answers)に投稿された質問である。
部門を『言語』(Languages)へ定めたうえで2009年の3月7日と2013年の4月25日に放たれたこの質問は、各投稿者の定め置いた簡潔な題が全てを述する通り、ドイツ語とポーランド語の「難度」を比較する趣旨の問いを示し、意見を募った。

学習者さんの初期状態しだい。ネイティブ英語話者、あるいはドイツ語以外の西欧諸語のネイティブ話者なら、ドイツ語のほうが易しいのはほぼ間違いないでしょう。一方スラブ言語に馴染みを持つ者、あるいは激しい語形変化を有するラテン語のような言語に馴染みを持つ者、そして 膨 大 な数の名詞、動詞、形容詞を覚えることを厭わない者であれば、ポーランド語の学習を満喫できるかもしれません。 〔It depends where you're starting from. If you are a native English speaker, or a native of a west European country other than Germany, you will almost certainly find German easier. But if you know any Slav language, or are accustomed to languages with a lot of inflections like Latin, and are not frightened by having to learn a LOT of noun, verb and adjective endings, then you would probably enjoy learning Polish.〕

既に英語が話せる状態の場合、おそらくドイツ語のほうが簡単でしょう。ドイツ語は英語そのままというわけではありませんが、近い。スラブ言語にあたるポーランド語のほうが高めの難易度でしょうね。 〔If you already speak English, German will probably be easier to learn. German is not exactly like English but it is related. Polish is a slavic language and may prove more of a challenge.〕

ペラペラ状態な私からしても難しいと感じてしまうのがポーランド語。世界7000種類の諸言語のなかで4位の難解度なのがポーランド語だと、そう聞いたことがあります。ドイツ語もまた難解なのは確かなんでしょうけど、でもポーランド語の難しさはもう次元が違ってるんです！ 〔I speak Polish fluently and still think it's a difficult language. I actually heard that out of the 7, 000 various language dialects in the world, Polish is the 4th most difficult language to learn. I'm sure that German is difficult as well, but there's no comparison, Polish is more difficult!〕

母語が英語の人であれば、難しいのはポーランド語。でも美しさでも上回ってると思いますし、全く新しい世界への入門にもなりますよ。スラブ言語を一つ覚えてしまえば別のスラブ言語も大体（少なくとも部分的には）理解可能になりますので。 〔Polish is more difficult, if your first language is English, but I think it's a more beautiful language and it opens up a whole new world to you because once you know one Slavic language, you can understand most other Slavic languages (at least partially).〕
